They both have a hexagonal crystal structure with a specific gravity of 3.20~3.25g/cm3 and a Mohs hardness of 9.5. The production of silicon carbide involves various chemical processes. Black silicon carbide contains about 98.5% SiC and has higher toughness compared to green silicon carbide.
