Product Description

Black Carborundum Silicon Carbide Paricle F16 30 GPa Vickers Hardness

INTRODUCTION

Silicon carbide, chemical formula for SiC, is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (adding salt for green silicon carbide production) and other raw materials, then smelting in a resistance furnace at high temperature, and it can also be called electrolon sand or refractory sand. Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, are hexagonal crystal, specific gravity is 3.20~3.25g/cm3, Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.5.

PROPERTIES

Black silicon carbide is a hard, sharp, and highly durable abrasive material. It exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, high-temperature strength, and low thermal expansion. Its unique crystal structure gives it outstanding resistance to wear and deformation. Black silicon carbide is also highly chemically stable, making it ideal for use in harsh chemical environments.

APPLICATION

· Medical implants: SiC can be used in medical implants due to its biocompatibility and resistance to wear and corrosion.

· Optics: SiC is transparent to a wide range of wavelengths, making it useful in optical windows and lenses for harsh environments.

· Metrology: SiC is used in precision metrology equipment, such as coordinate measuring machines and surface profilers, due to its stiffness and thermal stability.

· Semiconductor processing: SiC is used as a substrate material for growing gallium nitride (GaN) and other semiconductor materials for high-power and high-frequency device applications.

· Nuclear energy: SiC can be used in nuclear fuel cladding and control rod materials due to its radiation resistance and thermal stability.
