Product Description

Hexagonal Green Carborundum Silicon Carbide Medical Paricle 106-75μm

INTRODUCTION

Silicon carbide, chemical formula for SiC, is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (adding salt for green silicon carbide production) and other raw materials, then smelting in a resistance furnace at high temperature, and it can also be called electrolon sand or refractory sand. Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, are hexagonal crystal, specific gravity is 3.20~3.25g/cm3, Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.5.

PROPERTIES

· High hardness: It has a Mohs hardness of 9.5, making it one of the hardest materials known to man.

· High strength: It has high flexural strength, making it resistant to bending and breakage.

· High thermal conductivity: It has excellent thermal conductivity, making it useful in applications where heat dissipation is important.

· Chemical stability: It is highly resistant to chemical attack and can withstand exposure to acids and alkalis.

APPLICATION

· Nuclear energy: SiC can be used in nuclear fuel cladding and control rod materials due to its radiation resistance and thermal stability.

· Food processing: SiC can be used in food processing equipment due to its hardness, wear resistance, and chemical inertness.

· Water treatment: SiC-based membranes can be used for water filtration and desalination due to their high flux and chemical resistance.

· Oil and gas: SiC can be used in oil and gas drilling and production equipment due to its wear resistance and high-temperature stability.
