Black Carborundum Silicon Carbide F280 Sharpening Cutting Tools Powder
INTRODUCTION
Silicon carbide, chemical formula for SiC, is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (adding salt for green silicon carbide production) and other raw materials, then smelting in a resistance furnace at high temperature, and it can also be called electrolon sand or refractory sand. Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, are hexagonal crystal, specific gravity is 3.20~3.25g/cm3, Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.5.
PROPERTIES
Black silicon carbide is a hard, sharp, and highly durable abrasive material. It exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, high-temperature strength, and low thermal expansion. Its unique crystal structure gives it outstanding resistance to wear and deformation. Black silicon carbide is also highly chemically stable, making it ideal for use in harsh chemical environments.
APPLICATION
· Defense: SiC is used in armor and blast-protection applications due to its high hardness and strength.
· Chemical processing: SiC can be used in chemical reactors and heat exchangers due to its corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability.
· Lighting: SiC-based LEDs can emit light in the UV, visible, and near-infrared regions with high efficiency and long lifetime.
· Wireless communication: SiC-based RF devices can operate at higher frequencies and temperatures than traditional silicon-based devices, enabling new wireless communication applications.
· Medical implants: SiC can be used in medical implants due to its biocompatibility and resistance to wear and corrosion.
· Optics: SiC is transparent to a wide range of wavelengths, making it useful in optical windows and lenses for harsh environments.
