Product Description:
Our 95% Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Beads are premium spherical grinding media, formulated with over 94% ZrO₂ and stabilized with Y₂O₃, delivering an exceptional balance of high strength, toughness, density and hardness .
With a Mohs hardness of 9 and real density reaching 6.0-6.08 g/cm³, their wear resistance is 5 to 10 times higher than ordinary glass beads, with near-zero water absorption and minimal self-wear as low as 2ppm . The beads feature excellent sphericity, uniform particle size distribution, and outstanding acid & alkali corrosion resistance, making them nearly non-contaminating to ground materials .
They are widely applied in ultra-fine grinding and dispersion scenarios that demand zero pollution, including lithium battery materials, electronic ceramics, magnetic materials, pharmaceutical products, food, pigments, inks, paints and high-viscosity specialty chemicals . Easy to clean and reusable in continuous industrial production, they effectively reduce long-term operational costs while maintaining consistent, stable grinding performance across batches.
Available in full size ranges from 0.2mm to 60mm, these beads are perfectly compatible with high-speed vertical/horizontal bead mills, pin mills and stirred media mills, delivering reliable nano-level fine grinding results .
Features
- High density (approximately 6.0 g/cm³): This material is significantly heavier than 65-zirconium silicate beads (approximately 4.0 g/cm³); under identical conditions, it delivers greater impact energy and offers a grinding efficiency approximately 2–3 times higher than that of 65-zirconium silicate beads.
- High hardness (Mohs hardness ≥ 9; Vickers hardness ≈ 1200): This material exhibits exceptional wear resistance—approximately 50 times that of glass beads and about 5 times that of 65Zr beads—resulting in extremely low wear rates (down to the ppm level), which significantly reduces the need for consumable replacement and equipment wear.
- Excellent chemical stability: it is resistant to strong acids and strong alkalis, hardly reacts with materials, thereby preventing contamination of materials; this makes it highly suitable for applications requiring high purity, such as the pharmaceutical, food, and electronic ceramics industries.
- Excellent sphericity and smooth surface: This ensures good fluidity, a more uniform grinding trajectory, reduces dead zones, and makes it easier to obtain products with a concentrated particle size distribution.
