The main ingredient of ceramic beads is zirconia, which is extensively utilized in surface treatments such as sandblasting and shot peening. The manufacturing of ceramic shot undergoes a high-temperature melting process of imported zircon sand in order to produce liquid form. Afterwards, it is sprayed as tiny beads which are separated and screened by a magnetic separation technique for obtaining particles of high roundness, strength and of uniform size.

Ceramic shot yields a better surface brightness during sandblasting processes while the object itself retains its color. It is employed in numerous industrial sectors such as: aviation parts, stainless steel plates, structural parts, stainless steel kitchen utensils, medical tools, smartphones/ laptops shell, auto chassis/engine and even in sport equipments.



Ceramic shot is characterized by high strength and wear resistance, mainly consisting of zirconia with small crystal size. With Vickers hardness (microhardness) of 700hv and Rockwell hardness of 600hrc, its density and specific gravity are much higher than those of glass beads. Ceramic shot presents high abrasion resistance and strength, making it sufficiently durable and resistant to breakage during sand blasting, and therefore, producing minimum dust.

The sandblasting effect of ceramic shot is very effective with high surface finish. In addition, it requires 60-70% less time than glass bead sandblasting of the same specification. Suitable for dry and wet blasting, its surface is extremely smooth, thus minimizing the wear of sandblasting equipment. It is suitable for sandblasting of various materials, such as titanium alloy, magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and alloy, acrylic, plastic and other materials, without metal residue or oxidation, thus ensuring the color of the workpiece.

Apart from that, ceramic shot is known for its high sandblasting efficiency and longevity, recycling up to 25 times of glass beads. Its roundness is also very high, and the proportion of irregular shape, such as abnormal balls and snowman balls, is low.
