Product Description:
The main component of ceramic bead is zirconia. It is mostly used in surface treatments like sandblasting and shot peening. For the symbol for shot products, it is a high-temperature melting process of high-quality imported zircon sand. After that, it is sprayed into form balls.
The zirconia ceramic spheres will be sieved and removed by magnetic separation to ensure a uniform particle size. It also ensures the quality of the particles, as it makes them considerably round and hard. When used in sandblasting, the ceramic shot can achieve a better surface brightness without changing the original color of the object.
Ceramic shot is broadly used in the sandblasting and surface treatment industry. It includes aviation parts, stainless steel plates, structural parts, stainless steel kitchenware, medical devices, mobile phone/laptop shell, automobile chassis/engine, and sports equipment.
Features:
Ceramic shot is a type of abrasive material that has both a high strength and excellent wear resistance. It is mainly made up of zirconia, a material known to have small crystal sizes and which provides the shot with great resistance against wear. In terms of hardness, ceramic shot is much harder than glass beads, with a Vickers hardness (microhardness) value of 700hv and Rockwell hardness rating of 600hrc. Additionally, the density and specific gravity of ceramic shot is higher than that of glass beads, making the shot much more resilient in terms of abrasion resistance.
Using ceramic shot for sandblasting produces a highly satisfactory finish, due to its low dust-causing attributes. Unlike glass beads, ceramic shot is less likely to fracture, reducing the amount of dust that is produced. This makes ceramic shot perfect for surface finish applications, as the brightness of the finished product is higher than if glass beads had been used.
The versatility of ceramic shot is another great advantage as it can be used on a variety of different materials, including titanium alloy, magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and alloys, acrylic, plastics and many more. There is also the benefit that ceramic shot does not chemically react or oxidize with the metal, meaning there is no unwanted metallic residue, therefore not affecting the colour or structure of the workpiece. In addition to this, it can also be used in either wet or dry blasting setups as the surface of ceramic shot remains very smooth throughout, resulting in a low rate of wear within the sandblasting equipment.
Finally, ceramic shot is extremely effective in terms of its sandblasting efficiency and service life, as it can be used 25 times more than glass beads, and its roundness is higher, with less of an abundance of abnormal balls and snowman balls. Therefore, ceramic shot is a fantastic abrasive to use in many sandblasting applications, ensuring that the projects are completed with a satisfactory finish.
Applications:
Shot peening in the aerospace, automotive, nuclear, chemical, and medical industries has many beneficial applications. In the aerospace industry, shot peening helps to improve the surface strength and reduce stress, which results in lighter, stronger parts.
In the automotive industry, it can extend the fatigue life of gears and aluminum hubs through processes like stress relieving, peening forming, and straightening. Shot peening is also useful for nuclear and chemical equipment, and even in the medical industry.
Other processes besides shot peening, such as sandblasting for a satin finish, sandblasting cleaning, deburring, and descaling are also critical in a variety of manufacturing operations. Finally, shot peening is a great pretreatment option for before any coating or spraying.
