White corundum is produced by melting industrial alumina powder at a temperature greater than 2000 degrees Celsius in an arc furnace and then cooling it. After grinding and shaping, it is subjected to magnetic separation of iron and particle size screening to produce different products. White Fused Alumina is a pure and clear version of Fused Alumina that allows the production of the whitest vitrified wheels with low levels of soda and silica content. This type of aluminum oxide is highly friable due to its high purity and large crystal size. Its crystals fracture quickly, producing constantly cutting crystals to small pieces.
