Product Description

Product Description:

The brown corundum abrasive has excellent properties such as a high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low coefficient of linear expansion and excellent corrosion resistance. Moreover, it has advantages that traditional brown corundum can't compete with such as no explosion, no chalking and no cracking in the application process, while offering a much higher cost-effectiveness. Therefore, it is widely used in fused alumina refractories as an aggregate and filler. Compared with other materials, Brown Fused Alumina has high hardness and extreme toughness, as well as high temperature resistance, strong erosion resistance, high machinery strength as well as thermal stability, making it a great candidate for the production of shaped refractories.

Brown Aluminum Oxide is fused using premium raw materials and a 3500 KVA furnace. Its uses are numerous, with applications ranging from general abrasive applications in bonded abrasive tools, polishing or sandblasting, to grinding ferrous materials and finishing tough and hard materials. On top of that, this material is also used as a high-class refractory material, available in both a F and P grade, and as both macro and micro powder.

Features:

Brown corundum was used as sandblasting surface treatment, because of its relatively high density, so that is less dust in the process of sandblasting. This ensures operator health and safety, at the same time it can improve operator visibility. (Compared with slag: in the formation process of slag, cold water or even seawater is used for high temperature cooling, so it form the glass phase structure, with breakability. Because slag is relatively brittle, in the process of grinding, easy to be smashed into small particles. Because the slag is relatively brittle, it is easy to be crushed into small particles in the process of sandblasting. Because the density of slag is relatively small, which results in small slag particles suspended in the air and environmental pollution. Similarly, quartz sand is a very fragile abrasive.)

Brown corundum, under a certain pressure, can quickly impact the surface of the object with a large number of sharp edges, so it is regarded as a very fast spray grinding method. The acceleration and velocity of particles in the air flow are a function of inertance and particle size. The smaller the particle, the easier it is to accelerate and thus produce a higher impact force on the surface of the object, so that resulting in a very high cleaning rate, usually twice as fast as other conventional abrasives.

Different from conventional abrasive materials, brown corundum is a pure non-toxic mineral, which does not contain harmful free silicon substances that lead to silicosis, toxic heavy metals or radioactive pollutants. In addition, the low consumption and recyclability of products can greatly reduce the amount and cost of waste disposal after the product is used.

Brown corundum is very suitable for many fields. Normally, it can be reused several times. If it has not lost its cutting ability after the first time, the number of cycles can be more. Without cutting ability, brown corundum can also be recycled and applied to the construction industry as cement additive.

Technical Parameters:

Aluminum oxide, whose chemical formula is Al2O3, is a solid/crystalline substance in a brown color with a Mohs hardness of 9. Its melting point is 2045°C (3723°F) and boiling point is around 2980°C (5400°F). Its density is 3.9 g/cm³, refractive index is 1.76, and specific heat capacity is 0.88 J/gK. Its thermal conductivity at room temperature is 30.0-35.0 W/mK. With a Mohs hardness of 9 and bulk density of 1.57-1.65 g/cm³, aluminum oxide has a regular and sharp-edged grain shape. It is non-magnetic and its abrasives site of the Mohs hardness scale is 9 as well.

Crystal structure of aluminum oxide is trigonal hexagonal. It has particles size from 12-1200 μm and the chemical composition is Al2O3 (95%+), SiO2 (<1.5%), MgO (<1.4%). Free iron content of aluminum oxide is typically below 0.11% and its refractoriness is above 1900°C. It has neutral pH (7.0), and it is soluble in hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid. It offers high flame resistance, has an insulator property (non-conductive), and has water-soluble salts content of <0.3%. Cleaning aluminum oxide is non-polluting and its coefficient of thermal expansion is 8x10-6/°C. It is robust in terms of mechanical strength and chemical stability, and it also has a high resistance to thermal shock. Moreover, it has a high strength to weight ratio.

Applications:

Wire sawing: Brown corundum can be used to cut complex shapes in a range of materials in wire sawing operations. Abrasive qualities of the brown corundum make it an ideal material for cutting through a variety of materials.

Precision casting: In the process of precision casting, used heavily in aerospace, automotive, and medical industries, brown corundum can be employed to create accuracy components.

Lining materials: Brown corundum is masterful in lining materials for furnaces and kilns due its effective resistance to high temperatures.

Grinding paste: Brown corundum is often used in grinding pastes, that are suited for optical lens grinding, tool manufacturing, and polishing.
