Brown Fused Alumina is produced through a fusion process of bauxite in an electric arc furnace at very high temperatures. This brownish-colored product is characterized by its hardness and extreme toughness, as well as its high temperature resistance, strong erosion resistance, superior combination of machinery strength and thermal stability.

 

The unique combination of these properties makes Brown Fused Alumina the perfect material for manufacturing of crucible refractories. It is also the preferred choice for general abrasive applications in bonded abrasive tools, such as polishing and sandblasting.

 

To ensure the quality of the product, Brown Fused Alumina is fused with premium raw materials in a 3500 KVA furnace. Despite having lower hardness and abrasive capacity compared to diamond, boron carbide and silicon carbide, it is still widely used for finishing tough and hard materials, such as ferrous materials. Moreover, it is often be used as a high-class refractory material, and is offered in F and P grades, in both micro and macro powder forms.

Brown corundum was used as sandblasting surface treatment, because of its relatively high density, so that is less dust in the process of sandblasting. This ensures operator health and safety, at the same time it can improve operator visibility.

 

Different from conventional abrasive materials, brown corundum is a pure non-toxic mineral, which does not contain harmful free silicon substances that lead to silicosis, toxic heavy metals or radioactive pollutants. In addition, the low consumption and recyclability of products can greatly reduce the amount and cost of waste disposal after the product is used.

 

Brown corundum is very suitable for many fields. Normally, it can be reused several times. If it has not lost its cutting ability after the first time, the number of cycles can be more. Chemical Constitution: Al2O3 is the main component of this substance, more than 96.3%. SiO2, Fe2O3 and TiO2 are the other major components which do not exceed 1.4%, 0.21% and 1.5% respectively.

 

Physical Properties: It has a brown colour, a Mohs hardness of 9 and a true density of 3.9 g/cm3. Furthermore, its bulk density ranges from 1.60 to 1.95g/cm3 and its Ig-loss does nor exceed 0.09%.

 

Applications:
