Product Description:
Ceramic shot features the main component of zirconia, and is utilized primarily for surface treatments such as sand blasting and shot peening. The production process entails melting high-quality imported zircon sand into liquid at high temperatures and spraying the liquid into balls. The spheres are then magnetically separated into particles of roundness, strength, and uniform particle size.
The spherical particles of ceramic shot are being utilized for its ability to attain brighter surfaces during sandblasting without changing the workpiece's color. Industries such as aviation parts, stainless steel plates, structural parts, stainless steel kitchenware, medical devices, mobile phone/laptop shell, automobile chassis/engine, and sports equipment have begun utilizing ceramic shot for its many beneficial properties.
Features:
The main component of ceramic shot is zirconia, which is characterized by small crystal size and high wear resistance, as well as high hardness. Its Vickers hardness (microhardness) is 700hv and Rockwell hardness is 600hrc. The density and specific gravity of ceramic shot are also much higher than those of glass beads, making it highly resistant to wear and tear.
Ceramic shot has dust prevention features and its abrasion resistance and strength make it difficult to break during sand blasting, resulting in much less dust generated. After sandblasting with it, the surface finish is high. Using ceramic shot of the same specification can produce 60-70% better results than glass bead sandblasting.
Ceramic shot can be used on various metals and nonmetals, such as titanium alloy, magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and alloy, acrylic, plastic and other materials. When blasting, it won't react or oxidize with metal, and there's no metal residue either, so the color of the workpiece won't be affected.
Ceramic shot is suitable for both dry blasting and wet blasting, and it's highly efficient with long service life. Its surface is smooth and its roundness is high, with low proportion of abnormal balls and snowman balls adhered between the spheres. Additionally, its recycling times can reach 25 times of glass beads.
Applications:
Shot peening has been widely used in various industries, particularly in the aerospace and automotive industries. It is an effective technique used to improve the surface strength, eliminate stress, and reduce metal weight of parts.
In the aerospace industry, shot peening is often used to extend the anti-fatigue life by stress relieving, peen-forming, and peen-straightening processes, especially for gearbox gears and automotive aluminum hubs.
Moreover, shot peening can be used in nuclear and chemical equipment, as well as the medical industry. Other applications of shot peening include sandblasting satin finish, sandblasting cleaning, deburring, descaling, and pretreatment before spraying/coating.
