Ceramic shot mainly consists of zirconia. Its applications include sand blasting and shot peening in surface treatment. The process of manufacturing ceramic shot begins with melting high-quality imported zircon sand at high temperature, which is then sprayed in the form of balls. These balls are then sieved and separated with magnets to get particles with high roundness, high strength, and uniform size.

Ceramic shot is notable as it can provide a polished and bright surface finish on the object being sandblasted, without changing the color of the material. It is applied in a variety of industries such as aviation, steel plates, structural components, kitchenware, medical devices, mobile phone/laptop shells, car chassis/engines, and sports equipment.

Features:

High strength and wear resistance are the core characteristics of ceramic shot. The main component of this material is zirconia, which is known for its small crystal size and its durability. The Vickers hardness (microhardness) is rated at 700hv while its Rockwell hardness is 600hrc. Compared to glass beads, the density and specific gravity of ceramic shot are far higher.

Ceramic shot is well suited for various sandblasting works due to its property of low dust emission, high abrasion resistance and strength. This makes it difficult to be broken during sand blasting and so: it does not contribute to high amounts of dust.The surface finish is high too, and far higher than glass bead sandblasting of the same specification. It is applicable to metals and nonmetals, like titanium alloy, magnesium alloy, acrylic, plastic, and so on. The sandblasting effect will not react or oxidize with metal, leaving behind little to no metal residue - which in turn, will not affect the color of the workpiece.

This material is suitable for both dry and wet blasting. The smooth surface ensures the durability of the sandblasting equipments by reducing the wear and tear. And thanks to its long service life and high sandblasting efficiency, up to 25 times that of glass beads, it makes for a better recycling material. Generally, ceramic shot is round in shape with very low proportion of snowman balls and normal balls adhered between the spheres.
