Zirconia (ZrO2) microbeads have numerous advantages that make them widely used in the grinding field. These properties include high strength, high density, high hardness, excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Besides these physical characteristics, zirconia has superior comprehensive performance in terms of density, particle size uniformity, sphericity, strength, hardness and toughness. Additionally, the wear resistance of ordinary glass can be up to 5 to 10 times more in comparison. Further, the convenience for industrial production cleaning and repeated utilization is another plus.
Features:
95% Zirconium beads are made of 94-95% of zirconia which stand out from other grinding media due to its high zirconium content, superior wear resisting capability, and good liquidity for steady product roundness and smooth surface. Moreover, wear resistance requirement for the equipment using such kind of beads is also lower.
As for TZP zirconia beads, they have the same high zirconium content-95%. Besides, it has additional 4.8% of yttrium, the specific gravity of which is 1.6 times of an ordinary zirconia bead. Therefore, TZP zirconia beads has more outstanding grinding efficiency when compared to an ordinary zirconia bead under the same conditions.
Furthermore, TZP zirconia ceramic microbeads have excellent impact resistance and excessively low wear.The toughness of the bead is excellent in high speed and super-high concentration machine without any crack or peel while the wear rate is only half of zirconia silicate beads and the very low wear (ppm) also prevents any material pollution.
Technical Parameters:
True density of this material is 6.05 kilograms per cubic decimeter, while its bulk density is 3.75 kilograms per cubic decimeter. Its Moh's hardness is 9, and its compression strength is between 1000 and 1300 megapascals. Finally, its abrasion property is 0.01 kilograms per hour per square meter.
Applications:
The use of zirconia ball is far reaching, its high toughness makes it an ideal material for grinding media, mainly utilized to grind alumina, aluminum, glass, quartz, feldspar, glaze and other materials of high hardness. Moreover, due to its strong wear-resistance, it is also great for making abrasive mill, stirring mill and other equipment that requires high speed. Other than using as wear-resistant coatings, it can also be used as rubber, with the commonly used wear-resistant ceramic ball models being 0.5, 1, 2 and 3mm.
