Product Description

Product Description:

Brown corundum is produced from high quality bauxite, anthracite and iron filings. Manufacturing of corundum is done by arc smelting at 2000°C or higher temperature. It is then further processed by self-grinding machine and magnetically separated to remove iron. It is divided to various sizes and its texture is dense and hard.

The corundum manufactured in this process has several applications, such as making ceramic, high-resistance abrasive resin, grinding, polishing, sandblasting and precision casting. Moreover, it can be used for producing high-grade refractories. Due to its high spherical pellets, it is suitable for all these applications.

Features:

Brown corundum, under a certain pressure, can quickly impact the surface of the object with a large number of sharp edges, so it is regarded as a very fast spray grinding method. The acceleration and velocity of particles in the air flow are a function of inertance and particle size. The smaller the particle, the easier it is to accelerate and thus produce a higher impact force on the surface of the object, so that resulting in a very high cleaning rate, usually twice as fast as other conventional abrasives.

High Hardness

Brown corundum’s high Mohs hardness makes it highly effective for abrasive applications because it can quickly remove material from surfaces.

Exceptional Wear Resistance

Its resilience and capacity to withstand high levels of heat and wear make it an ideal choice for many demanding applications.

High-Quality Surface Finish

Brown corundum particles produce a uniform surface finish with no residual impurities, leaving the surface smooth with a consistent texture.

Consistent Particle Size Distribution

Brown corundum abrasive grains are uniformly sized, which allows for more precise machining.

High Strength and Durability

Brown corundum abrasive particles are highly resistant to breaking, meaning they last longer and require fewer replacements.

Technical Parameters:

Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) is a brown colored, solid or crystalline chemical compound. Its hardness is rated at 9 Mohs*, and it has a melting point of 2045°C (3723°F). Its boiling point is approximately 2980°C (5400°F), and its density is 3.9 g/cm³. The refractive index of aluminum oxide is 1.76, and its specific heat capacity is 0.88 J/gK. Its thermal conductivity at room temperature ranges from 30.0-35.0 W/mK.

According to the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, aluminum oxide is rated at 9, and its bulk density is 1.57-1.65 g/cm³. The grain structure of aluminum oxide is regular and sharp-edged. Aluminum oxide is non-magnetic and it rates at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale of abrasives. Crystal structure of aluminum oxide is trigonal hexagonal.

Applications:

Brown corundum is an incredibly versatile material with many different industrial and household uses. In grinding wheels, it is used to sharpen and provide finishing to steel, iron, alloys and other metals.

The same material is used to polish glass, stones, and metals, adding a shine to their surface. It is also used for sandblasting, removing substances like grease, rust, and old paint. In addition, brown corundum is used in the manufacture of refractory materials like firebricks, furnace linings, and crucibles.

Finally, manufacturers of abrasive blasting kits utilize brown corundum for cleaning a variety of materials, ranging from wooden surfaces to metals and ceramics.
