Product Description:
The Brown Corundum Abrasive has the characteristics of high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low coefficient of linear expansion, and corrosion resistance. The practice of dozens of fire-proof production companies has verified that this product has the characteristics of no explosion, no chalking, and no cracking in the application process. In particular, it is much higher than the cost-effectiveness of traditional brown corundum, making it the best aggregate and filler for fused alumina refractories.
Brown Fused Alumina is produced by fusion of bauxite in an electric arc furnace at high temperatures. The brownish coloured product shows high hardness as well as extreme toughness. It is produced by fusion of bauxite in a tilting electric arc furnace at high temperatures. The product shows high temperature resistance, strong erosion resistance, high machinery strength as well as thermal stability. It is a good raw material for manufacturing of shaped refractories.
Brown Aluminum Oxide are fused with premium raw materials and 3500 KVA furnace. It is perfect material specifically manufactured to be used for general abrasive applications in bonded abrasive tools, polishing and sandblasting grit. While aluminum oxide has lower hardness and abrasive capacity than diamond, boron carbide, and silicon carbide, it is widely used for grinding ferrous materials, finishing tough and hard materials. It is also be used as high-class refractory materials. Brown aluminum oxide is offered in macro and micro powder form, in both F and P grades.
Features:
Brown corundum was used as sandblasting surface treatment, because of its relatively high density, which minimizes the amount of dust during the sandblasting process. This ensures the operator's health and safety, as well as improves the operator's visibility. The unique particle size of brown corundum ensures that more effective particles can hit the surface of the object, so the use of brown corundum can greatly reduce the loss of abrasive. It penetrates deep into the holes and pits on the surface and can reach the bare surface of the metal, completely removing rust, water-soluble salts, and other pollutants. The treated metal surface is very clean and free of embeddings, and the quality is easily up to standard grade.
Brown corundum is also safer than other conventional abrasives, since it is a pure non-toxic mineral, containing none of the harmful free silicon substances that lead to silicosis, toxic heavy metals, or radioactive pollutants. And its low consumption and recyclability can greatly reduce the amount and cost of waste disposal after the product is used.
In conclusion, brown corundum is a very effective abrasive for sandblasting, as it accelerates and delivers high impact force on the surface of the object, quickly removing pollutants. It is non-toxic and recyclable, making it an environmentally friendly solution that meets the requirements of on-site surface treatments.
Technical Parameters:
Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) is a solid/crystalline substance with a brown color and a Mohs hardness of 9. It melts at 2045°C (3723°F) and its boiling point is around 2980°C (5400°F). It has a density of 3.9 g/cm³ and a refractive index of 1.76. The specific heat capacity is at a decent 0.88 J/gK, while the thermal conductivity is 30.0-35.0 W/mK at room temperature. Other mineral hardness scales of abrasives are at 9 and the bulk density is at 1.57-1.65 g/cm³. The grains of aluminum oxide are regularly shaped and sharp-edged. It is non-magnetic, and its crystal structure is trigonal hexagonal, with a particle size of 12-1200 μm. Its chemical composition is of 95% or more aluminum oxide, and the rest is SiO2 and MgO at no more than 1.5% and 1.4% respectively. Free iron content is typically below 0.11%. The refractoriness is above 1900°C, with a neutral PH of 7.0. It is soluble in hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid. It has a high flame resistance, is an electrical insulator, has a maximum water-soluble salt content of 0.3%, and is non-polluting. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is 8x10-6/°C, with a high mechanical strength, chemical stability, and thermal shock resistance, and having great high strength as well.
